Chesterfield Special Cylinders has the ability and facilities to re-test and refurbish an extensive range of cylinders. We have long been recognised as a station for the mandatory re-testing of high pressure cylinders and we are accredited for re-test to BS EN 1968, ISO 6406 and US DOT standards

To increase customers return on investment a range of refurbishment services are offered. As a manufacturer, the company is experienced to advise on how best a cylinder can continue to have a useful service life.
Services offered include:

• Re-collaring and replacement of foot-rings
• Internal and external shot blasting
• Neck machining and re-threading
• Re-valving and replacement of fittings
• Painting and finishing.
• Pressure uprating (where applicable)
• Change of gas service (where applicable)
• Metal spraying

From the early years of manufacture, Chesterfield recorded all relevant details of manufacture which were incorporated into certification regimes. Moreover, the database of records and drawings was assiduously maintained and goes back to the 1930’s.

Certification is essential to modern day cylinders continued use and this database provides a valuable asset for all who own cylinders made by us.

Our archive can cast new light on obscure origins of cylinders and is particularly useful if stocks are being acquired or redeployed and where through life maintenance programmes are in operation.
