Chesterfield Special Cylinders has many years experience of re-testing and refurbishing high-pressure cylinders at our approved facility in Sheffield (see Re-testing and refurbishment). However, when the return of fixed cylinders to such a facility is physically impractical or prohibitively costly, an alternative solution is required.

Whether or not Chesterfield originally manufactured the cylinders, we can provide qualified personnel to carry out on-site inspections of your installed cylinders, in line with the relevant guidelines such as IMCA or DOT.

Degradation in high-pressure steel cylinders tends to happen from the inside and superficial external checks are of little use. Chesterfield provides specialist NDE techniques undertaken by experts.

All cylinder owners have an on-going duty of care to ensure the necessary regulatory re-testing and maintenance requirements are being met.

With renewed concentration on the safety of pressurised systems, where the stresses are immense, or the environments hostile, this is not an issue that can be ignored. 

CSC developed a new British Standard BS 8562. This enables on site pressure vessel re-testing using

Acoustic Emission testing with a combination of visual and other NDE techniques.

This service provides a cost effective on site check to ensure the cylinder is fit for further service.
