Aircraft Cylinders
|
High pressure cylinders for aircraft have been manufactured by Chesterfield for the best part of a century. The majority of our product is destined for the Military, where the range is diverse and most usually employed for aircrew breathing or in pneumatic actuation systems. All cylinders are made from high strength chrome or nickel alloys, some forged from seamless tube others deep drawn from plate. There are thousands of these in service with the RAF and other air forces. Many cylinders have reached their mandatory re-test date several times over and have been re-tested and reconditioned by Chesterfield. • Applications include: • Aircrew breathing supply • Emergency escape systems • Fuel tank inerting • Back up under carriage, canopy, flaps and other actuation systems • Emergency generator starters • Tyre inflation
Re-test and reconditioningCSC offer a full re-test and reconditioning service and are fully conversant with DEFSTAN 81-121 covering military aircraft cylinders. Commercial standards BS EN 1968 and DOT are also covered. With a database that has been maintained for many years, we are able to add to the service life of aircraft cylinders. The database provides an invaluable resource for the checking of a cylinders manufacturing, re-test and service history. We maintain the UK MOD cylinder database which covers the majority of the UK Navies HP Air/Nitrogen cylinders. This provides an invaluable source of information for the history of the cylinders |
